Warning | Those companies & individuals do not fulfil their responsibilities

Warning | Those companies & individuals do not fulfil their responsibilities

In recent months, we have observed a troubling trend within the world of IT equipment trading that we feel compelled to address. Increasingly, reports are emerging about situations where a company or trader agrees on a price for a deal, and an invoice is generated. The buyer confirms that the invoice will be paid within a specific timeframe. Days pass, and the seller continues to chase the buyer, only to receive repeated promises of payment. Yet, as time drags on, the buyer ultimately informs the seller that they have "changed their mind" and will not be paying.

At first glance, this might appear to be an isolated issue, affecting smaller players in the market. However, we were shocked to discover that even some of the biggest names in the IT sector are involved in this malpractice. These are not small startups but multinational corporations with branches in over 30 countries, companies that are often highly respected in the industry. Yet, these very companies are now engaging in practices that undermine the trust and respect that professional trading should be built upon.

The reality is that these behaviours are not isolated incidents but rather a systemic issue that reflects a broader problem within these organizations. When a company, regardless of its size, consistently fails to meet its financial obligations, it becomes a risky business partner. Even if the amounts owed are small, the pattern of non-payment shows a lack of commitment to upholding agreements and fostering good business relationships.

So, what does this mean for the wider trading community in the IT sector? The truth is, these companies no matter how large or influential they may be, pose a serious risk to anyone who engages with them. If they are willing to withhold payment for a relatively small amount, one can only imagine how they would handle larger transactions. Their unwillingness to respect agreements erodes trust, which is the foundation of all successful business relationships.

In the light of all this, we created this publicly accessible page where we will list the names of these companies as they come to us. The goal is not to punish these companies but to raise awareness and allow others in the industry to make informed decisions. It may be surprising to see some of the names that will appear on this list, but it is important for everyone involved whether you are a buyer, seller, or service provider to understand the risks of doing business with these organizations.

At the end of the day, it’s not about the size of the business or the amount of money involved. It’s about the integrity and professionalism that every company in the IT equipment trading space should uphold. A healthy, thriving market is one that is built on trust, clear communication, and respect for agreements. As an industry, we must work together to make sure that all parties buyers and sellers alike are held to these high standards.

To help combat this growing issue, we’ve launched a Fraud Alert Group to warn others in the industry. If you'd like to join click the link below

The group will initially be admin-only for posting alerts. Join the group
